Mocha Girls: Certified voluptuous vixens

By Jaimes R. C. Sumbilon

Chloe, Franz, Mocha, Mae and Yumi.
For the much-awaited September music issue of the sophisticated and in demand Playboy Philippines magazine, the controversial and sexy girl band Mocha Girls is the fitting 2012 cover. The all-girl group is a veritable fount of both sexiness and talent in singing and dancing. With their suggestive choreography and singing prowess, they instantly create a party mood.
Formed in 2006, this all-female singing and dancing group, led by vocalist and original member Mocha Uson, earned its reputation through the group’s style of entertainment — from their wild and tempting dance moves and double entendres, to their sexy clothing and even the members’ controversial sexual preferences. Nothing could be hotter than Mocha Girls.
Besides Mocha, after whom the group is named, the Mocha Girls now consists of four young and talented newbies, namely, former EB Babes member Mae de la Cerna, Franz Fainsan, Yumi Ociman and Chloe Recto.
Unknown to many, the Mocha Girls already performed as front act for the international music shows of famous artists such as T-Pain, Sean Paul and Destiny’s Child’s Kelly Rowland.
Last Sept. 9, the group’s 18+ Restricted, produced by Playboy Fragrances and released under Bellhaus Entertainment, won the Best Dance Album award from PMPC Star Awards for Music.
Considered by Playboy as its boldest issue so far, the magazine features the different tastes of Mocha Girls as they reveal more about their music, their advocacies, their thoughts as a girl group and, of course, their thoughts in bed.
At the press conference, held at Ristorante D’ Amore restaurant in Ermita, Manila recently, wearing their trademark sexy outfits the girls didn’t hesitate to answer the queries from the media.
About the rumors that some of the members of the group are lesbians, Mocha clarified that she would much rather be called bi-sexual than lesbian because, according to her, she engages in love affairs with either male or female.
“Like me, I’m not a lesbian, but a bi-sexual... I appreciate and like both men and women, and nothing wrong with that as long as you don’t hurt others,” Mocha said in Filipino.
The girls expressed their excitement for being the magazine’s cover. “We’re just so thrilled that we are being featured in the music issue,” exclaimed band leader Mocha. “Playboy is the best men’s magazine in the world. We are totally honored. We’re fit, we’re sexy and while we are at our prime, this is a great time to show this to the world.”
When it comes to sex, the girls also have a stand filled with sense and practicality. “Sex is an extraordinary thing. Be responsible... that’s what it is. Have fun and stay safe,” said the outspoken Mocha.
Dubbed by the Playboy as “Pop Femme Fatales” for the 46th issue of this popular magazine, the Mocha Girls entice your senses with their idealisms and appreciation about men, sex, beauty and arts.
The pictorial was done in a yacht, which oozed Mocha Girls’ beauty and sex appeal that will make every man’s jaw drops.
On the cover, Mocha is the only one wearing a sheer white top and black bikini bottom, while the other members of the group go topless, posing for their best shots ever.
“I’m expecting and hoping that a lot of people will embrace and appreciate our work, kasama na itong pictorial. We had fun, pero matindi ang efforts namin para dito,” expressed Mae, who also stands as the choreographer of the group.
When asked why magazine tagged their cover as the “boldest” issue to date, Mocha just gave a teasing smirk and a naughty smile that surely roused curiosity and the urge to buy a copy of the magazine so as you can see what they have in store for readers.

Aside from promoting sexual freedom and self-empowerment, the girls also envision themselves to be advocates of various causes. In fact, Mocha is an advocate of breast cancer awareness since her mother is battling breast cancer, saying that her mom is in good state. “I tried to be active in raising breast cancer awareness. I also want Mocha Girls to be known as advocates for environmental preservation, and wellness education,” added Mocha.
Why the magazine chose the group for its special music edition, according to Playboy Philippines, “The Mocha Girls have all the trappings of a pop act, but beyond the seamless and fiercely feminine image is a thrust that goes beyond the rhythm of the local sphere. The girls are out to preach sexual freedom, urging debate and exploring self-empowerment as they go.”
Also in the September issue are “Women in Focus,” “Basti Artadi of the Wolfgang: Man of the Month,” “20Qs with Chito Miranda of Parokya ni Edgar” and many more.
The Playboy Philippines September 2012 issue with the Mocha Girls on the cover is available in leading magazine stands and bookstores nationwide.
